Who Should Study this Course?

Every student of intermediate level studies in Punjab has to study this course. It is compulsory subject in all boards of province Punjab including Federal Board. English is a compulsory subject for all programs. If you are studying in FA, FSc, ICS or I.Com; you will have to study and pass an exam of English for 100 marks.  

Book One is a part of first year English syllabus. It contains almost one-third of English syllabus and marks. Every student who is studying 1st year English in Punjab or Federal Board has to study and learn Book One to cover complete syllabus. Students will find video lectures teaching each chapter with exercise and tips of your complete syllabus including Book One, all on this website. What is Book One?

There 15 short story lessons in Book One. All these stories also have exercise and questions. All these short lessons are like stories that also gain the interest of students. We can find a good moral lesson in these stories. These stories are a great and interesting way of improving students’ vocabulary. In these stories, students learn the proper of writing of a story, use of punctuation and words. It also helps students understand the format of writing an article or self-made story. 

Any question can be asked from within the lessons or from exercise in your exam. Synonyms are also included in your paper from within the lessons or from exercise. There can also be a sentence or a small paragraph from any lesson for punctuation and capitalization. The biggest and most important thing to learn from Book One is translation. Only by learning to translate, we get the benefit of understanding the lesson to its core. Translation is also included in the paper of Punjab Board. 

 

 

Paper Pattern and Attempting Method from Book One for Punjab Board

Complete paper of first year English contains 100 marks. These total marks are divided into three sections of its syllabus. Book 1 is one of these sections. Book One covers from 32 -37 marks in exam. There will come 4 different types of questions in paper from Book One.

1.    Short Questions about the story

2.    Translation from any Story

3.    Punctuation and Capitalization (or from Plays of Book Three)

4.    MCQs as Synonyms or about the story

1 -   Short Questions from Book 1:

There will be a Question number 2 in your English paper with 9 questions from Book 1. Out of these 9 questions, student will have to attempt answers to 6 questions. Each question contains 2 marks.

In short, there is a total of 12 marks from short questions of Book 1 given in Question Number 2 on paper.

 

How to Attempt Short Questions?

First of all make sure that you display clean writing and use marker for headings. Always use the correct number of question that is numbered on Question Paper. Write question or question number with marker. Start the answer from next line.
 
For 2 marks, complete your answer within 2 – 3 lines. After answering, leave a line before you write next question. It will make your paper look nice and easily understandable.  
 

2 -   Translation from Book 1:

Question Number 10 in the Punjab Board paper for 1st year English is translation of a passage into Urdu. There will be given a passage from any lesson of Book 1. Students are required to translate it into Urdu. This translation contains the highest marks in paper. That one passage covers 15 marks

 

How to Attempt Translation?

In order to attempt translation properly, student must have knowledge of tenses and good vocabulary. Translate one sentence and first completely understand the Urdu of the sentence before writing it. Student does not have to translate word by word but the whole sentence in proper understandable Urdu. Make sure that your translation gives the meaning of sentence as whole.  
 
First write the Question Number with marker and in next line start to translate the passage into Urdu. Don’t write English passage on paper as it is only a waste of time.  
 

3 -   Punctuation and Capitalization:

There will be given a sentence or a small paragraph from either Short stories of Book 1 or Plays of Book 3 in the Part (b) of Question Number 7. Student is required to punctuate and capitalize it according to need. This question contains 5 marks. How to Attempt Punctuation and Capitalization in Paper:

First read the given sentence or paragraph careful and understand its meaning. After understanding it, try punctuating and capitalizing according to rules in rough work. Write question number and in next line write the punctuated paragraph. Try to use marker where you made changes in it so it is easy to understand. 

 

4 -   MCQs from Book 1:

These MCQs from Book One will cover about 5 marks (little more or less) from a total of 20 marks in complete MCQs section. There will be two types of MCQs from Book 1.

Paper Pattern and Attempting Method from Book One for Federal Board

Complete paper of first year English contains 100 marks. These total marks are divided into three sections of its syllabus. Book 1 is one of these sections. Book One covers from 32 -37 marks in exam. There will come 3 different types of questions in paper from Book One.

1.    Questions from Book 1

2.    Punctuation and Capitalization (or from Plays of Book Three)

3.    MCQs as Synonyms or about the story

1 -   Questions from Book 1:

There will be a Question number 2 in your English paper with 10 questions from Book 1. Out of these 10 questions, student will have to attempt answers to 7 questions. Each question contains 4 marks.

In short, there is a total of 28 marks from questions of Book 1 given in Question Number 2 on paper.

 

How to Attempt Short Questions?

For 4 marks, complete your answer within 40 – 50 words. After answering, leave a line before you write next question. It will make your paper look nice and easily understandable. Explain the complete concept but don’t use any unnecessary information.   

 

2 -   Punctuation and Capitalization:

There will be given a sentence or a small paragraph from either Short stories of Book 1 or Plays of Book 3 in the Part (c) of Question Number 5. Student is required to punctuate and capitalize it according to need. This question contains 4 marks. How to Attempt Punctuation and Capitalization in Paper:
