Biology

Punjab Board 10th - Biology

Biology is a natural science. Students who want to pursue their career in medical, zoology, botany, genetics, molecular biology, bioinformatics or agriculture pick this subject in matriculation. This is not a compulsory subject for students of Science Group, the other option is Computer Science. 10th grade Biology is consist of 9 lectures and all of them are explained in video lectures on our website. You can watch these lectures to clear your concepts about the subject to gain good marks. Chapter wise tests will also help you to analyze your progress in the subject. The Punjab board paper for this subject comprises of 60 Marks, 12 marks for objective while other for subjective.

Subject Details

Biology is a branch science which studies life, living organisms; covering all aspects related to living things such as their physical structure, chemical composition, evolution etc.

This is one of the major subject of Punjab and federal boards, consisted of 4 sections, 9 chapters.

The details are given below:

Section 3: Life Process

Chapter 10: Gaseous Exchange

This chapter covers gaseous exchange in plants, gaseous exchange in humans, and mechanism of breathing and respiratory problems

Chapter 11: Homeostasis

The chapter deals with removal of wastage or extra elements in plants homeostasis in humans, function of kidney and urinary system and finally kidneys disorders.

Chapter 12: Coordination and Control

This chapter is about coordination and control in organisms which may be nervous or chemical coordination. We learn endocrine and nervous system in this lecture and the factors such as stimulus, receptors in humans’ endocrine system, effector, coordinator, response etc.  Other topics are related to brain, ear and eye system.

Chapter 13: Support and Movement

This chapter talks about human skeleton and its components, types of joints, muscles and movements, disorders of skeletal system.

Section 4: Continuity in Life

Chapter 14: Reproduction

This chapter studies reproduction such as binary fission, budding, fragmentation, self and cross pollination, germination, males and females reproductive system and AIDS.

Chapter 15: Inheritance

This chapter explores genes, chromosomes and genes, Mendel’s laws of inheritance, co and incomplete dominance, variation and evolution

Section 5: Ecology

Chapter 16: Ecology

Ecology is the study of living thing and its surrounding. This chapter focuses on components of ecosystem, flow of materials and energy, ecological pyramids, biochemical cycles, interactions in ecosystem, ecosystem balance, control of pollution and conservation of nature

Section 6: Applications of Biology

Chapter 17: Biotechnology

This chapter addresses techniques used in biotechnology, such as fermentation, genetic engineering and single cell protein

Chapter 18: Pharmacology

It is the last chapter of the 10th Biology, this lecture covers subjects related to pharmacology i.e. medicinal drugs, addictive drugs, antibiotics and vaccines.
