Chemistry

Punjab Board 10th - Chemistry

Analyzing the structure, characteristics, composition and reaction of an organic compound is known as Chemistry. We also know that nothing is creepier than chemistry for most of the students of sciences. It sounds someone like a ghost and to others it seems like as ugly as a lizard or a cockroach. But everyone has to clear it as it is the compulsory subject for Science Group. To make the subject easier our teacher has worked hard and came up with a methodology to convey the lecture in an interesting way. You will not only inspired by his techniques, but will also find the subject simple after watching these video lectures. You could also evaluate yourself by taking the chapter-wise test

Subject Details

This isn’t just chemistry, it’s the whole world. From touch to see, to hear, to taste, to smell, to breathe and feel, everything involves chemistry. Each little motion in the world involves an enormous chemical reaction and interaction. Chemistry is the name of studying and understanding all these reactions which couldn’t be seen by the naked eye.

The course of 10th class is also designed by keeping these factors in mind. It teaches us the basics; tells us how a small atom can induce a big change. It describes us various chemical reactions. It talks about different molecules and compounds and their role in our everyday life.

Content of the Subject:

There are total eight chapters in this book whose titles and a little descriptions are given below.

  1. Chemical Equilibrium:

The first lesson of the book is based upon equilibrium reactions and required condition for them, reversible reactions and their macroscopic properties.

  1. Acid, Bases and Salts:

Learners will study theory about acid and base; their properties, pH scale, types of salts and their uses.

  1. Organic Chemistry:

This chapter deals with compounds such as carbohydrate, enzymes, vitamins, drugs, lipids, pesticides, etc. Various kinds of formulas are being explained in this chapter. Students will also learn properties, classification, magnitude and diversity of organic compounds. Alkyl and alkaline radicals and functional groups are also discussed in it.

  1. Hydrocarbons:

The fourth chapter of the textbook discusses topics such as types of hydrocarbons, hydrogenation and reduction of alkynes and alkenes; their preparation and other chemical reactions.

  1. Biochemistry:

This chapter is all about natural macromolecules which are vital for our lives. The structure, properties, source and usage of these macromolecules are discussed in it.

  1. The Atmosphere:

What is the atmosphere?   Why to link atmosphere with chemistry? How much do you know about pollutants? What are the reasons behind global warming? What do you know about Ozone? All these questions are covered in this lecture.

  1. Water:

The 7th chapter reviews everything about water. It talks about its occurrence, our dependence on it, the difference between types of water, water borne disease and water pollutants.

  1. Chemical Industries:

Topics such as metallurgical operations, Solvay’s Process, formation of urea and petroleum industries are covered in the last lesson.
